The biggest problem in moving to Brazil is how you will make a living.  Unless you plan to open your own business or have an income source from abroad, you will have to find a job and that requires speaking fluent Portuguese as well as having a permanent visa.  One possible exception is the oil industry, which will be expanding over the coming years.   It is a sector you might want to keep an eye.Macaé, RJ is one of the primary oil cities here in Brazil. I’ve read that it has more gringos percentagewise than any city in Brazil.  I’ve never been there, but from what I’ve read and heard, it is not the most attractive city.  The beaches are supposed to be nice.
