Dutch and BR fans 10:30 a.m. local time Brazil is shutting down for the game. Win this one and just one more to go (either Uruguay or Ghana) to the final.  Brazilians are confident.  Most think they will go all the way; however, with all the errors the referees are making – who knows.  Futebol must modernize. Saw couple of guys walking to the SKOL truck to buy a case of beer.  Not much noisy … unusual. 12:51 Brazil just lost the World War Cup. With all the upsets, anything is possible tomorrow.  The stolen goal of the US by the ref shows again that futebol needs to modernize along with baseball and tennis.  It is just crazy to have these worldwide mega events (talking futebol now) left in the hands of one line ref.  Most large organizations hate change from outside; FIFA is no different. I’ll watch the game tomorrow.  I just wish I had more confidence in the “system”.

Game Time: 15:30 (post time 14:45) Still traffic on the streets. Noisy level increasing (horns, fireworks).  You can feel the energy! 67% of Brazilians think they will win the World Cup. 1509: Brazil press reports it is near freezing at the stadium!! 1529: Galvão, the BR announcer, reading off the North Korean names…it ain’t easy. 1545:  No cars on street Street during the BR - North Korean game 1549: Very, very quiet.  That will all change when the game ends. 1606: (33) No goals!  Beautiful game is very boring! 1616: halftime – not what most expected. 1627: halftime – quiet.  Everyone wondering –   “Are we going to win this?  North Korea is a nothing team; much worse than the US.” 1638: 2nd half – If Brazil only ties North Korea, it will be a huge lost for them. 1641: (9) Gooooal Brassssiiiiiil!    Por fim!  At last.  No longer quiet. 1658: (26) Gooooal Brasssiiiiil!    Things just got a lot better for Brazil. 1714: (43) Goal North Korea.  This shouldn’t have happened! 1718: (45) Brazil wins.  On to next Sunday.  Noisy level picking up. Tomorrow Brasil’s Futebol team plays its first game in the 2010 World Cup.  Some work will be accomplished in the morning, but from Noon on the country will pretty much be closed down (match begins at 15:30 BR time) and for the next 30 days it will be moving at a crawl.
