The Brazilian Federal Police announced that beginning December an unmanned “spy” aircraft will over-fly the shanty towns of Rio do Janeiro at a height of 7.000 metres, well out of range from the drug gangs and trades that last week shot down a police helicopter killing three men on board.

The BBC published a report from the RITLA Institute of Brasília about murder rates in Latin America.
Brazil is ranked 5th in the murders of youth; 6th overall.

RIO DE JANEIRO – Three Norwegian tourists came under fire and one was shot after the satellite navigation system in their car guided them straight into one of Rio de Janeiro’s most dangerous slums.

If you have an extended family, they become a frequent part of your life here. Too frequent at times.
