The idea place to look for work in Brazil is with your company. If they do not have any business operations in Brazil, you have lost your best chance. You can apply directly to companies that have operations in Brazil, but few companies will hire an unknown just because THEY want to go to Brazil. However, if you have special skills, which a company is looking for, you might get lucky.
I met an American computer programmer in Rio who was working for an American oil company. He was free a lancer. As I recall he was hired on a six-month contract, whose schedule was three weeks on (Rio), one week off (Stateside). All travel paid by the company as well as accommodations and meals in Rio. They put him up in the Cesar Park in Ipanema. A driver picked him up every morning took him to the office downtown. He usually returned to the hotel on his own since he many times worked late into the night. Although he had Sundays off, he usually went in to the office. I asked what he had seen of Rio and his answer was “nada”. He laughed saying he would have to go back to the States and surf the Internet to find out what he HADN’T seen in Rio.
